The earthquake is now estimated at 7.9 magnitude and possibly 50,000 dead. As of May 20 there are estimated to be 5,000,000 homeless. Many of the army rescue team are also missing. The China Red Cross is stretched to its limits and all contributions are welcome at this time. There are expected to be large aftershocks in the near future, and threats from reservoirs breaking, lack of drinking water, lack of food, many people sleeping on the streets and on the open land. Many children are still missing. Shools were destroyed.

The Red Cross in China provides assistance to millions of under-privileged children and poor families.

China has more than 6,000,000 people with cerebral paralysis; there are 40,000 to 50,000 new ones per year. In china, there are 1,780,000 children with cerebral paralysis between 1 year old to 12 years old, the average rate of incidence of this illness posses 3.25‰ in survive infants. 70% of children with cerebral palsy live in poor areas, which tie up to simple condition and low level of local medical treatment. Because of poor conditions, infants of abortion, dystocia, asphyxia and icterus can’t gain in-time treatment so as to give up treatment and fall into deformity, which bring out tremendous burden to families and society. Based on statistic digitals, cerebral paralysis takes the third place of physical disabilities that needs the supports of basic existence, and the fifth place of disabilities-caused reasons.

The Chinese Red Cross Foundation and Yuquan Hospital of Tsinghua University unite together to initiate “Love of Angel- Assistance Action for poor children with cerebral paralysis” in order to call for all walks of society to pay much attention to the living condition of poor children with cerebral paralysis, and to partake their suffers and help them more and more to gain in-time medical treatment.

The purpose of this action is to improve symptom of children with cerebral paralysis under the treatment technology of Yuquan Hospital of Tsinghua University, help them to live independently, go to school to study and make a living and return back to society in order to make them useful to families and society through curing methods such as surgeries and recovering trainings.

The Red Cross in China also has programs where, for a small donation of $5,000 to $10,000 you can help sponsor the establishment of a small medical facility in a village. There's also the possibility that the medical facility can have your name on it if you wish.
